Todd Spangler, who writes the Bit Rate blog for Multichannel News, noted recently that Comcast in the fall filed trademark protection for two devices:

AnyReach, a portable TV & radio player, which as a Panasonic produced DVR, will be available in 2009
XtraScreen, “slings” TV content over wireless to computers

Hmmm? Warm and fuzzy, anyone? With more than 20MM households and folks racheted in by the triple play of phone, data, and video, is this a bundled sale opportunity to make the offering more attractive versus IPTV and satellite? Or a way to gain value from the existing sub base? But who in the organization will sell these darned things, since the company isn’t set up for hard-goods product sales? Customer service upselling, anyone?
